Tax Advisor - REG

Locatie: Amsterdam

 The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with global tax and accounting policies and procedures, adherence to local and global tax laws, and provide support 
to internal/external stakeholders. This position is responsible for analyzing European corporate income and indirect tax (i.e., VAT, excise tax) issues, advising on possible solutions, and executing upon decisions made by management. Additionally, this position will oversee the filing of corporate income tax returns and indirect tax filings for several countries within Europe, as well as reviewing and interpreting tax laws and regulations in European countries where the company operates, while coordinating and communicating on projects and initiatives across multiple departments.  

Corporate Income Tax

  • Team with US-based income tax team on both the quarterly and annual global tax provision processes, including monitoring of law changes, performance of research, providing guidance on interpretation of European tax law where the Company operates  
  • Assist with the preparation of local country income tax workpapers and calculations for European entities to support local financial statement reporting and tax filings 
  • Understand income tax laws and regulations in European countries where the Company operates, monitor changes in such laws, and effectively communicate impact on business 
  • Plan and coordinate filing of European corporate income tax returns prepared by outsourced providers  
  • Manage and execute the timely and effective settlement of cash tax payments to European tax authorities 
  • Monitor Company operations and contribute to business decisions by educating and advising leadership regarding the impact of business transactions on tax cost and risk 

Transfer Pricing 

  • Assist with the preparation, review, and management of transfer pricing projects, documentation, and filings, including the coordination of services provided by outside consultants regarding same 
  • Create financial and economic analysis/models to periodically test and support pricing decisions and transfer pricing compliance
    Prepare reports, presentations and other deliverables related to transfer pricing projects  
  • Evaluate, analyze, and summarize intercompany transactions with regard to tangible property, intangible property, services, and financial transactions  
  • Participate in local country and transfer pricing tax audit defense in European jurisdictions  
  • Coordinate with US-based income tax team regarding transfer pricing policies and execution 
  • Contribute to quarterly transfer pricing process by collecting, reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing information from questionnaires completed by the business   

Value Added Tax (VAT) 

  • Assist with the preparation and filing of European VAT tax returns by teaming with accounting personnel to collect, analyze, and organize financial information for external consultants 
  • Review European VAT tax returns and ensure they are timely filed 
  • Conduct research and recommend updates and improvements to company policies with regard to the adherence to VAT laws and regulations 
  • Monitor developments and keep abreast of changes in VAT rules in multiple European jurisdictions  


  • Coordinate with the Global Tax Department to ensure compliance with tax obligations and implementing planning / projects in all jurisdictions relevant to the business and its initiatives 
  • Conduct independent work, drive projects forward to achieve results, and coordinate across multiple geographies by keeping lines of communication open 
  • Build relationships across the business and outside immediate geography 
  • Proactively identify and manage European tax risks by ensuring consistent application of local country tax laws, transfer pricing practices and documentation for global intercompany transactions 
  • Assist and advise internal stakeholders with understanding the tax laws and regulations in the European jurisdictions in which the company operates and has subsidiaries 
  • Monitor global tax regulatory environment, including the impact and influence of new laws and regulations resulting from the base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project conducted by the OECD 

Other frequent duties: 

  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies and procedures 
  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with outside advisors 
  • Recommends process improvements and/or new technologies that will enhance efficiency and effectiveness  
  • Perform other duties as assigned  


  • Education Required: Master’s degree – Fiscal Economics, Fiscal Law or related degree 
  • Experience Required: 4-8 years of related experience 
  • Special skills or knowledge preferred: 
  • Multiple languages (English required)
  • International experience 
  • Use of JD Edwards or Oracle enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
