(Senior) Tax Specialist
Your Tasks
As a Tax Specialist for MediaMarkt Benelux, you will be (partially) responsible for submitting tax returns and, if necessary, correcting the financial administration in your designated region, all within applicable tax laws and regulations, to ensure tax compliance. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Independently and accurately collecting and/or processing financial data from various branches for different tax returns, including VAT, corporate tax, and other tax-related filings.
- Identifying and correcting any inaccuracies in the financial administration related to tax returns.
- Supporting the safeguarding of tax-relevant records and preparing detailed tax reports for HQ on a periodic basis.
- Assisting in creating realistic budgets and forecasts in your area of expertise, collaborating with various departments.
- Maintaining an accurate overview of tax flows and ensuring transparency in financial and tax reporting.
Additionally, you will be involved in:
- Documenting and archiving files in accordance with retention period requirements.
- Actively identifying bottlenecks in work processes and proposing improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes in your area of focus.
- Engaging in active communication and collaboration with various departments to ensure they remain informed about tax legislation concerning invoicing, and coordinating with the financial team on corrections or adjustments to invoicing processes to ensure tax integrity and minimize tax risks.
Your Profile
You are a results-driven, proactive, and pleasant colleague with an eye for detail and project management skills. Additionally, you have:
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO level) or equivalent in Business Economics/Tax Economics;
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in consultancy or a corporate environment;
- Solid knowledge of tax laws and regulations;
- Excellent command ofEnglish (and Dutch is a plus);
- Knowledge of the SAP system is a strong plus.
